Pronunciation guide: fix a word once

AI voices guess at names, brands, acronyms, and jargon. Add the word and how it sounds, as a phonetic respelling like "keen-wah" or in IPA like "/ˈkiːn.wɑː/", and Jellypod says it your way every time that word comes up.

Rules are workspace-wide, so a guest’s name or your product name is right in every episode after the first. Open the guide from the sidebar or straight from the script editor.

How to use Pronunciation Guide

  1. Step 01

    Open the guide

    Open Pronunciations in the sidebar or from the script editor.

  2. Step 02

    Add the word

    Enter the word and how it sounds, as a respelling or in IPA, then preview it in a character’s voice.

  3. Step 03

    Generate as usual

    Every episode, video, short, and voiceover you generate uses your spelling from then on.

Write it phonetically or in IPA

Enter the word or phrase and how it should sound. Write it the way it sounds, like "SEER-shuh" for Saoirse, or paste the IPA if you have it. Jellypod swaps it in whenever the word appears in a script.

Preview in any voice

Click the speaker icon and pick a character to hear the word in that voice before it reaches an episode. Adjust the spelling until it sounds right.

Fix it from the script

Open the guide from the script editor while you review a line, add the name it stumbled on, and regenerate only that line. Script Editor. Read the help guide.

What is the pronunciation guide?
A workspace list of words and how to say them. When Jellypod generates audio, it swaps each matched word for your pronunciation before the voice reads it, so the script itself stays spelled correctly.
Where do pronunciations apply?
Every episode, video, short, and voiceover in your workspace. Add a pronunciation once and Jellypod uses it from then on.
Can I hear a pronunciation before using it?
Yes. Click the speaker icon next to any entry and pick a character to hear the spelling in that character’s voice.
How should I write a phonetic respelling?
Write the word the way it sounds, split into syllables with hyphens and the stressed syllable in capitals: "acai" becomes "ah-sah-EE" and "quinoa" becomes "KEEN-wah".
Can I use IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet)?
Yes. The pronunciation field takes IPA as well as a plain respelling, so "Nguyen" can be "/wɪn/" and "Worcestershire" can be "/ˈwʊstəʃər/". Use IPA when a respelling is ambiguous, and preview it to confirm the voice reads it the way you want.
Do I need to match capitalization?
No. A rule matches the word whatever its capitalization, so "SQL" and "sql" both use your pronunciation.
Which words should I add?
Guest and host names, brand and product names, acronyms you say as a word (like "SQL" as "sequel"), place names, and technical or medical terms your listeners would notice being said wrong.
