Paste a name, see where it is already taken

Paste a podcast name and get exact-name searches on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podchaser, Google, the .com domain, and Instagram, each one click away.

It is free and needs no signup. Run your shortlist through it before you pay for cover art or a domain, since a name that looks unique can still belong to a show you have never heard of.

How to check a podcast name

  1. Step 01

    Paste the podcast name

Type the exact name you want to use, the way it would appear in a directory.
  2. Step 02

Open each search in one click

The checker builds searches for Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podchaser, Google, the .com domain, and Instagram. Each opens in a new tab.
  3. Step 03

Lock it down or try another

If the name is free, register the domain and social handles right away. If it is taken, generate new ideas and check again.

Check before you record

Every episode, social post, and guest ask will carry your show name. Find out mid-launch that another show has it (or that a trademark holder wants you to rename), and you redo the cover art, feed URL, website, and search footprint.

Directories, domain, and social from one form

Apple Podcasts and Spotify cover most listening, Podchaser catches shows hosted elsewhere, and Google shows whether the phrase already belongs to someone. The .com and Instagram checks tell you whether you can own the name everywhere your listeners look.

FAQ

How do I check if a podcast name is already taken?
Search the exact name on Apple Podcasts and Spotify first, since they cover most listeners. Then search Google for "[name] podcast" to catch shows hosted elsewhere, and check the .com and your social handles. This checker lines up every one of those searches from a single name.
Can two podcasts have the same name?
Yes. Apple Podcasts and Spotify allow duplicate names, and there is no central registry. It is still a bad idea: sharing a name with an existing show splits search results, creates confusion, and leaves you vulnerable to a trademark complaint if the other show registers one. Pick a name no active show already uses.
Do I need to trademark my podcast name?
Most podcasters don't. A trademark becomes worth considering if your show is generating meaningful revenue, if you plan to license the name (merch, book deals, live shows), or if you want to prevent copycats. For a hobby or early-stage show, confirming availability and using the name consistently is usually enough.
What happens if I pick a name that is already taken?
Your show will still publish, but you'll struggle to rank in search, listeners will confuse your show with the other one, and in a worst case the original show's owner can file a complaint with Apple or Spotify, or with a registrar for your domain. If the existing show is inactive (no episodes in 12+ months), the risk is lower, but we still recommend a different name.
Does this checker guarantee a name is free?
No. The checker opens exact-name searches so you can see whether an active show, domain, or handle uses the name today. Two people can still pick the same name on the same day, so once you find a free one, register the domain and social handles right away.
