Educator plan FAQ

Who qualifies for the free Educator plan?
K-12 teachers, university and college faculty, administrators, and instructional staff. Students do not qualify. The rules are in the educator plan help doc.
Can I use my own voice?
Yes. Clone a voice you have the rights to use. The voice cloning help doc asks you to confirm those rights and to provide at least 30 seconds of audio, with 60 seconds recommended.
How does NotebookLM compare with Jellypod for class?

How do I activate it, and does Gmail work?
Sign up and choose "Educator / Faculty" as your role. A school or university email such as .edu or .ac.uk activates instantly, with no credit card. Other institutional domains that don't end in .com go to our team for review, and you can start an eligible trial while you wait and cancel anytime. Addresses ending in .com, including Gmail and school .com domains, can start an eligible 7-day free trial and cancel anytime.
How long do the free months last, and what happens after?
Six months from activation, granted once per workspace with no renewal. Each teacher with their own workspace gets their own six months. After that, you can continue on a paid plan.
Can I upgrade and keep my free Educator credits?
Yes. Upgrade to any paid plan and keep your 3,000 free Educator credits each month alongside the paid plan's credits for the rest of your Educator offer. Upgrading does not extend the offer. After it ends, you continue receiving your paid plan's credits.
What can I build with it?
Lecture recaps, course companion podcasts, weekly briefings, and study guides, from slides, notes, readings, or a recording you review before it ships. A Public or Unlisted podcast gets an RSS feed and a hosted website, and a Private podcast has no feed or share link.
