Editing Speech Blocks
Edit the text in any speech block, change which host is speaking, and adjust the speaking speed for individual blocks.
Editing Text#
- Click into any speech block in the script editor.
- A text cursor appears. Edit the text as you would in any document: select, delete, and retype.
- Changes are auto-saved as you type.
When you edit text on a block that already has generated audio, the block dims slightly (reduced opacity) to indicate the audio is now out of sync with the text.
Changing the Host#
Each speech block shows the assigned host's name as a clickable label above the text.
- Click the host name label on any speech block.
- The Host Settings popover opens.
- On the left side, a radio list shows all hosts assigned to the episode.
- Select a different host to reassign the block.
If no host is assigned, the label displays "No host" in a red/destructive style.
Adjusting Block Speed#
The Host Settings popover also includes a speed control on the right side.
- Open the popover by clicking the host name label.
- Under Block Speed, choose from three options:
- Slow (0.8x)
- Normal (1.0x)
- Fast (1.2x)
- The selected speed applies only to that specific speech block.
A speed indicator icon appears next to the host name when the speed is not set to Normal:
- Slow
- Fast
Resetting Changes#
If you change the host or speed and want to undo, click the reset button (rotate icon) that appears in the popover header. This reverts to the values the block had when you opened the popover.
Changing the host or speed on a block that already has audio will flag it for regeneration. You can regenerate just that block without redoing the entire episode.
Frequently Asked Questions#
Can I change which host speaks a specific line?
Yes. Click the host name label above any speech block to open the Host Settings popover. Select a different host from the radio list to reassign the block.
What does it mean when a speech block is dimmed?
A dimmed block indicates the text has been edited since the audio was last generated. The audio is now out of sync with the script. Click the Regenerate Audio button on the block to update the audio.
