Creating Magic Video
Generate a narrated Video from a prompt, Source, or finished script, with AI narration and your choice of animated Visual Style.
Start Magic Video
Magic Video is Jellypod's longer-form AI video Product. In Studio, each project is saved as a Video in the Videos collection. Magic Video and Shorts share a creation surface and editor, but they remain distinct Products with different starting formats.
- Navigate to Home (the studio home page) or Videos in the studio sidebar.
- If you're on the Home page, switch the composer to Video mode. On the Videos page, the controls are already showing.
- Type a prompt describing what you want the Video to be about, attach a source (a file, link, or pasted text) using the sources button, or click Upload Script to paste or attach finished narration.
- Pick one to four Characters as the Video's Hosts, in the order you want them cast. Selecting more than one writes a conversational script that assigns each paragraph to a Host instead of one continuous narration.
- Pick a language for the narration from the searchable language picker beside the Host picker. It starts with the Dominant language shared by your selected Hosts' Voices and falls back to your browser, region, and English.
- Pick a video style from the scrollable style rail below the prompt; see Choosing a Visual Style for the full lineup, which is the same for Videos and Shorts.
- Choose a duration: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, or 20 minutes, on the Videos page or the Home page's video mode. When you upload a script, duration switches to Auto and can't be changed because Jellypod derives it from the script.
- Choose an orientation, or leave it on the automatic default; see Choosing an Orientation. Video mode on the Home page defaults to Landscape.
- Use the settings icon to add a watermark or logo.
- If your organization has any Brand Kits, a Brand control appears below the prompt box.
- Click Generate.
If you leave the prompt empty but attach a Source, Jellypod creates a Video summarizing that Source automatically. Once generation starts, Jellypod takes you to Videos to watch its progress.
Use Upload Script when the text is finished narration, not research material. Paste the text or choose a supported file, then click Add script. Jellypod adds it to the composer, keeps every spoken word in the same order, and skips research and script writing when you generate the Video. Leading and trailing whitespace may be removed, but the narration itself is not rewritten. To have Jellypod summarize or rewrite a document, attach it as a Source instead.
Ways to Start
The same Magic Video creation flow supports several familiar starting Workflows:
- Prompt to Video: Describe the topic, audience, and direction in the prompt.
- URL to Video: Attach a webpage link and optionally add direction.
- Document to Video: Attach a supported document as a Source.
- Script to Video: Click Upload Script and add finished narration. Jellypod keeps it word for word and sets the duration automatically.
- Audio to Video: Attach audio as a Source for the generated Video.
- Faceless Video: Create a narrated Video whose Character provides the Voice while generated visuals remain on screen.
These names describe how you begin Magic Video. They are Workflows, not separate Products or Features.
Generating a Video costs 1 credit per second of narration plus 7 credits per generated image and 17 per generated video clip, the same formula as a Short. A 20-minute Video with about 100 visuals costs about 1,900 to 2,000 credits, so check your plan's monthly credit allotment before generating one at the longer durations. The ceiling shows next to the Generate button once your prompt is ready, follows the visual style you pick (Whiteboard and Sketch styles only draw images), is reserved when you click Generate, and settles to what was actually generated. Rendering is free; see Understanding Credits.
What Jellypod Generates
A Video is a fully produced video in your chosen orientation, built automatically from your chosen starting point:
- Narration, written and performed in your chosen Host's Voice, or as a conversation between your chosen Hosts, generated in segments the same way as a Podcast Episode script
- Animated visuals, in your chosen style, generated shot by shot to match the narration
- Word-synced captions, on by default in the style linked to the selected Visual Style; choose another caption style or turn captions off from the Captions button once the Video's workspace opens
Generation runs in the background and can take longer than a Short, proportional to its length. While it's running, the Video's card in the Videos Library isn't clickable yet; see The Videos Library for what its status labels mean. Jellypod opens the Video's editable workspace as soon as its first render is ready.
Set Magic Video Defaults
Videos and Shorts share one set of organization-wide defaults. Click Settings beside the page title on the Videos or Shorts page to open Video defaults and choose the starting Character, style, duration, orientation, and watermark for every new Short and Video, plus a background music setting that applies to Shorts. A Video starts with that one default Character as its only Host; add up to three more from the Host picker before generating. Language remains an inline choice for each new Video and starts from the Dominant language of the selected Hosts' Voices; see Setting Defaults for New Shorts and Videos.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Shorts and Magic Video?
Both create narrated Videos with AI-generated visuals through the same editor. Shorts defaults to a quick portrait format for social platforms. Magic Video defaults to a longer, usually landscape format from 3 to 20 minutes, and its projects appear in the Videos collection.
Can a Video have more than one Host?
Yes, for Magic Video only: pick one to four Characters as Hosts before generating. Jellypod writes a conversational script that assigns each paragraph to a Host and uses every selected Host at least once. Shorts and Voiceovers keep one narrator.
How long can a Video be?
Choose 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, or 20 minutes, from the Videos page or the Home page's video mode. When you use Upload Script, Jellypod sets the duration to Auto based on the finished narration.
Will Jellypod rewrite a script I upload for a Video?
No. Upload Script treats the text as finished narration and keeps the spoken words in the same order. Attach the text as a Source instead if you want Jellypod to summarize or rewrite it.
What does a Video cost to generate?
1 credit per second of narration plus 7 credits per generated image and 17 per generated video clip, the same formula used for Shorts. A 20-minute Video with about 100 visuals costs about 1,900 to 2,000 credits. Rendering and re-rendering are free.
What video styles can I use for a Video?
Any of Jellypod's visual styles, the same lineup available for Shorts; see Creating Shorts for the full list with descriptions.
Can I add a watermark or brand kit to a Video?
Yes: a watermark or logo (Creator plan and above) and an organization Brand Kit, the same controls available for Shorts. Background music is a Shorts-only option; Videos are generated without a score.
What is the difference between a Video and a Voiceover?
A Video generates its visuals for you, animating them shot by shot from your prompt in the style you pick. A Voiceover uses visuals you already have, timing the documents and images you upload to the narration without redrawing them. See Voiceovers.
