Creating Videos
Generate a standalone narrated Video from a prompt or source, from 5 to 20 minutes long, with AI narration and your choice of animated visual style.
Starting a New Video
A Video is a longer, usually landscape, standalone production, the same kind of content as a Short, just built for a longer runtime. Shorts and Videos share one creation surface and one editable workspace; a Video is simply what you get from Video mode on the Home page or from the Videos page, saved to your Videos Library instead of your Shorts Library.
- Navigate to Home (the studio home page) or Videos in the studio sidebar.
- If you're on the home page, switch the composer to video mode first. On the Videos page, the Video controls are already showing.
- Type a prompt describing what you want the Video to be about, or attach a source (a file, link, or pasted text) using the sources button.
- Pick a host to narrate the Video.
- Pick a language for the narration from the language dropdown beside the host picker.
- Pick a video style from the scrollable style rail below the prompt; see Choosing a Visual Style for the full lineup, which is the same for Videos and Shorts.
- Choose a duration: 5, 7, 10, 15, or 20 minutes on the Home page's video mode. On the Videos page, the duration menu also lists the shorter Short-length presets (30 seconds and 1 minute); picking one still saves the result to your Videos Library.
- Choose an orientation, or leave it on the automatic default; see Choosing an Orientation. Video mode on the Home page defaults to Landscape.
- Use the settings icon to add a watermark or logo, or turn off Background music (on by default).
- If your organization has any Brand Kits, a Brand control appears below the prompt box.
- Click Generate (Home page) or Generate Video (Videos page).
If you leave the prompt empty but attach a source, Jellypod creates a Video summarizing that source automatically. Once generation starts, Jellypod takes you to the Videos page to watch its progress.
Generating a Video costs 5 credits per second of its final duration, the same rate as a Short. A full 20-minute Video costs about 6,000 credits in a single render, so check your plan's monthly credit allotment before generating one at the longer durations; see Understanding Credits.
What Jellypod Generates
A Video is a fully produced video in your chosen orientation, built automatically from your prompt:
- Narration, written and performed in your chosen host's voice, generated in segments the same way a podcast episode's script is
- Animated visuals, in your chosen style, generated shot by shot to match the narration
- An original instrumental score, composed for the Video and ducked under the narration (on by default; turn it off in the settings menu before generating)
- Word-synced captions, on by default
Generation runs in the background and can take longer than a Short, proportional to its length. While it's running, the Video's card in the Videos Library isn't clickable yet; see The Videos Library for what its status labels mean. Jellypod opens the Video's editable workspace as soon as its first render is ready.
Setting Defaults for New Videos
Videos and Shorts share one set of organization-wide defaults. Click Settings beside the page title on the Videos or Shorts page to open Video defaults and choose the starting voice, style, duration, orientation, language, background music setting, and watermark for every new Short and Video; see Setting Defaults for New Shorts and Videos.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a Short and a Video?
They're the same kind of content, a standalone narrated production with AI-generated visuals, built through the same creation surface and workspace. A Short defaults to a quick, vertical format (30 seconds to 1 minute, Portrait); a Video defaults to a longer, usually landscape format (5 to 20 minutes). Which one you get depends on whether you started from Shorts or Videos, not the duration you pick.
How long can a Video be?
Choose 5, 7, 10, 15, or 20 minutes from the Home page's video mode. On the Videos page, the duration menu also lists the shorter Short-length presets. The final render may vary slightly to match the narration.
What does a Video cost to generate?
5 credits per second of the final duration, the same rate used for Shorts. A 20-minute Video costs about 6,000 credits in one render.
What video styles can I use for a Video?
Any of Jellypod's 13 styles, the same lineup available for Shorts; see Creating Shorts for the full list with descriptions.
Can I add a watermark, brand kit, or background music to a Video?
Yes, the same controls available for Shorts: a watermark or logo (Creator plan and above), an organization Brand Kit, and background music, on by default.
