Regenerate one line or fix out-of-sync audio

Regenerate audio for a single speech block from the script editor or timeline, understand out-of-sync (dimmed) lines, agent edit scope, and the free daily limit.

When one line sounds wrong or its text has changed, regenerate just that line instead of the whole episode. This page is part of Podcasts and Episodes.

Regenerate a single line

From the script editor, hover a speech block and click Regenerate Audio. From the timeline, right-click the narration segment and choose Regenerate Audio (see the timeline editor for the rest of that menu).

Both paths regenerate the same block and segment, and the rest of the episode audio is untouched. A toast tracks progress and reads Audio generated successfully when the segment is replaced.

The button needs a host assigned to the block. If a line keeps sounding wrong because of a name or acronym, fix it in the pronunciation guide first, then regenerate.

There is no single button that regenerates a whole episode. Regenerate each block that needs it. When you publish or download after narration went stale, Jellypod offers Regenerate Audio & Render instead (see Choose which audio to render).

Out-of-sync detection

When a block's text, host, or a pronunciation rule it uses changes after it already has audio, Jellypod flags it:

  • The block text dims to 60% opacity.
  • The Regenerate Audio button switches to a warning style and stays visible without hovering; hovering it names which of those changed.

Regenerate every dimmed block before you publish or download. A block with no audio yet is flagged the same way, but shows Generate Audio instead, with no reason to hover since none has been voiced. A line the voice provider could not speak stays in this state: edit the wording or switch the host, then regenerate; see speech blocks in the script editor for each case.

Running blocks in parallel

You can regenerate different blocks at the same time, and each shows its own progress. A block that is regenerating is locked: its text can't be edited and its host can't be changed until the run finishes. Wait for a block to finish before regenerating it again. Editing other blocks is fine and does not cancel a run in flight.

A whole-script run, started by Regenerate Audio & Render or by a broad agent edit (below), locks the rest: while it is active, other blocks' buttons are unavailable and a message asks you to wait for it to finish.

Edits made by the Podcast Agent

When the agent edits your script, Jellypod saves the script first, then regenerates audio at the smallest safe scope:

  • A small edit that keeps each block's identity regenerates only the affected lines.
  • Adding, removing or reordering blocks, changing more than half of the spoken words, or an unclear match between script and timeline regenerates every line.

Jellypod decides the scope from the saved script and timeline, not from the agent or your browser. The update keeps running if you leave Studio. Blocks still waiting stay dimmed with the highlighted Regenerate Audio button. If a required line fails, the previous narration stays in place and the affected blocks are highlighted, so regenerate each one yourself.

Credits and the daily limit

Regenerating audio is free, including after you edit, split, reorder or add blocks. See understanding credits for what does cost credits. A daily limit applies, and if you reach it Jellypod shows a message that the limit resets at midnight UTC. Once it resets, regenerate again.

Troubleshooting

  • The button is missing: the block has no host assigned. Assign one.
  • The button is greyed out: another audio run is active, or the episode is read-only. Wait for the run to finish.
  • A line is refused or regeneration fails: rewording or switching the host is usually the fix. See when episode generation fails.
