Podcast seasons: create, assign and delete

Seasons are optional. A podcast with no seasons keeps its feed and website as they are. This page is part of Podcasts and Episodes.

Create a season

1. Open the podcast's episode list in the Studio.
2. Click Seasons, next to the search bar.
3. Click Add Season.

Each season gets the next number automatically. You can't set, change or reorder numbers. Add an optional title in the season's title field, for example "The Reckoning"; it saves when you click away from the field. Clear the field to remove the title.

Assign episodes to a season

Once a podcast has at least one season, open a published or scheduled episode, click Edit Episode Details, and pick a season in the Season field (see Editing episode details). Choose No season to remove the assignment.

Draft episodes have no season field, so assign a season after you publish or schedule the episode.

Delete a season

Open Seasons, click the delete icon on the season, then click Delete Season. Its episodes are never deleted: they stay published and become seasonless, and you can reassign them at any time. The dialog shows how many episodes are affected.

How seasons appear

• RSS feed: episodes in a season carry itunes:season and podcast:season tags (the title goes in the name attribute of podcast:season when set). The itunes:episode number counts from 1 within each season, in publish order. Seasonless episodes are numbered among themselves. See Your RSS feed.
• Podcast website: the episode list is grouped by season, in the same order as your episode list. Each heading shows the season title if you set one, otherwise "Season N". Seasonless episodes appear in a group with no heading. See Your podcast website.
