Episode statuses: draft, scheduled, published and more

Each episode in the list on your podcast page (see Managing Episodes) carries a status badge, part of Podcasts and Episodes. Hover over a badge for a date or detail.

Generating

Generating shows while the first generation runs. Clicking the row shows a "still generating" message instead of opening the episode, and it opens automatically once generation succeeds. See Watch it generate for what happens meanwhile.

Failed

Failed means the first generation did not finish. Hover over the badge for the error, or click the row to open the Generation failed dialog. See Episode Generation Failed for causes and retrying.

Draft

Draft is the state of a new or duplicated episode that is not live. Hover over the badge to see the creation date. While a draft renders for publication the badge reads Publishing. That is a display state, not a separate status, and the episode becomes Published when the render finishes.

Scheduled

Scheduled episodes publish automatically at the scheduled time. Hover over the badge to see it. The three-dot menu has Edit Schedule (reschedule, or Publish Now) and Cancel Schedule. See Scheduling Episodes.

Published

Published episodes are live in your RSS feed and podcast website, and on connected directories. Hover over the badge to see the publish date. To change a live episode without unpublishing it, see Publishing an Episode.

How episodes change status

Returning an episode to Draft, by canceling a schedule or unpublishing, keeps all its content.
