Edit podcast settings: cover, hosts and defaults

Every setting for a podcast lives in one editor. This page covers each one; for the wider workflow, see Podcasts and Episodes.

Open the editor

1. Select Podcasts in the sidebar, then open your podcast.
2. Open the actions menu (the three-dot button) and choose Edit Podcast Details.

The same menu has Edit Video Settings and Edit Episode Music, which open just those cards. To retire a podcast instead, see Archiving a Podcast.

What saves when

• The main fields, Podcast Sources, Video Settings, Distribution and Advanced are staged. Clicking Done in a card stages it in the main editor, and Save Changes applies everything at once. Closing the editor discards every unsaved change, including staged card changes.
• Brand and Episode Music Defaults save as soon as you confirm them (Save Brand, Done), without waiting for Save Changes.
• Opened through Edit Video Settings, the video card saves on its own Save Changes button. Opened through Edit Episode Music, the music card saves on Done.

Main details

• Cover art: Upload a replacement, or remove the current one. If you save with no cover, Jellypod generates one from the title and description. If generation fails, your previous cover stays.
• Title: Up to 100 characters. It appears in directories, on your website and in the RSS feed.
• Description: Rich text, 10 to 3,000 characters.
• Hosts: Required, up to 4. Episodes speak in each host's own voice language, so if no host has a voice in the podcast's Language, a warning appears here. If none of your hosts covers it, the warning links to the Characters page to add one.
• Language: The podcast's primary language.
• Categories: Required, up to 2.

Podcast settings cards

Brand

Choose the identity this podcast and its new videos start from: your organization's default brand kit, any other brand kit, or a Custom Primary override for this podcast only. This card also sets your podcast website's accent color. See Brand Kits.

Podcast Sources

Attach up to 3 reusable sources (URLs, files, YouTube links, pasted text or items from your Asset Library) as context for every new episode. Detaching a source here does not delete it from your Asset Library. See source levels.

Episode Music Defaults

Set default Intro, Background and Outro music. Defaults apply to new episodes only; existing episodes never change. Next to Intro, Generate (or Regenerate once an intro is set) creates an original intro: see generating a podcast intro.

Video Settings

Set the defaults new episodes start with:

• Video background color
• Default video style (see Video Templates)
• Default orientation: Landscape (16:9), Portrait (9:16) or Square (1:1)
• Add Watermark: Upload a square PNG, JPG or WebP image (5 MB maximum), or choose Click to use your cover art, then pick a corner: Top left, Top right, Bottom left or Bottom right. The watermark is set for the podcast, so it shows on episode videos as they render, not only on new episodes.

Custom watermarks and logos are available on Creator, Business, and Enterprise. They are not included on Starter or Educator, where adding one prompts an upgrade. Watermark and logo behavior for shorts and videos is covered in Video creation settings.

Changing the orientation or style on an individual episode to something other than the saved default prompts Save as podcast default?, which updates these defaults if you accept.

Distribution

Paste the public URL for each podcast platform, and add social links. These appear on your podcast website. Jellypod branding is removed automatically on the Creator plan and above.

Advanced

Click Advanced in the editor footer.

• Author: Credited in podcast directories.
• Episode order: Episodic or Serial.
• Visibility: Public or Private. A podcast already set to Unlisted also shows Unlisted, and can move to Public but not back. What each option does, including Private publishing, is in Podcast Visibility.
• Analytics: Track episode plays and downloads.
• New episode emails: Turn off to stop emailing your team when an episode publishes or is scheduled for this podcast. To stop these emails for all podcasts, turn off New episode emails in notification preferences. While your personal setting is off, this toggle is disabled unless it is already on.
• Publish Video to Website: Off by default, so publishing renders audio only. Turn it on to also render video whenever this podcast publishes and show it on your podcast website. Download Video from the episode toolbar renders video regardless.
• Additional Options: Expands Unlock RSS feed, which temporarily allows a one-time host import.

Effect on published episodes

Title, description and cover art update on your website and RSS feed. Existing episodes keep their own titles, descriptions and music.
