Fix a source that is processing, stuck or errored
What Processing, Ready and Error mean for a source, why extraction fails (paywalls, PDFs, YouTube transcripts), and how to remove or refresh one.
After you add a source, Jellypod extracts its content before the AI can use it. Each source shows one of these states in the chat:
- Uploading: a file is still being sent.
- Processing: the content is being extracted, shown with a spinner.
- Ready: extraction finished. No indicator is shown.
- Error: extraction failed. A warning icon appears and the reason is shown under the source name. Hover the source to read the full message if it is cut off.
You do not have to wait for Processing to finish. For podcast episodes, videos and voiceovers, you can start generating right away and Jellypod waits for extraction to finish. An episode shows "Waiting for your sources to finish processing." meanwhile.
Why is my source stuck or failed?
Read the reason under the source name, then match it below:
- Paywalled or login-only page: paste the article text as a source instead.
- Unsupported file ("File type not supported"): upload a supported format. See supported source types for formats and limits.
- PDF with no readable pages: re-export it from the original document.
- Private or unavailable YouTube video: use a public link, or paste the transcript as text.
- Stalled for more than 15 minutes: Jellypod marks the source as errored with "Processing timed out. Remove this source and upload it again."
If generation stops because a source failed, fix or remove that source, then retry. See episode generation failed for episodes, or video, short and voiceover failures (the Review sources button).
How do I remove a source?
Click the x on the source in the chat to remove it from that piece of content. While a source is Uploading or Processing, hover over its spinner to reveal the x. Podcast-level sources cannot be removed from the chat: open Edit Podcast Details and use Podcast Sources. To delete a source everywhere, see Source Library.
Can I refresh a source?
There is no in-place refresh. If the content changed, remove the source and add the URL or file again. This creates a new source from the latest version.
