Creation settings for videos, shorts and voiceovers
Settings you choose when creating a Magic Video, short or voiceover: duration, orientation, narration language, watermark, brand kit and remembered values.
These settings sit in the composer for Magic Video, Shorts and Voiceovers. Not every Product offers every setting. To pick a Product first, see choosing a video Product. Visual style choices are covered in video visual styles.

- The page or composer mode you start from decides whether the result is a short or a video, not the duration you pick.
- Presets above your plan's cap are locked and show an upgrade badge when you pick them. See plan limits for the caps.
- With Upload Script on a short or Magic Video, duration switches to Auto and cannot be changed, because Jellypod derives it from the script.
- A short's final render may vary slightly to match the narration.
- For a voiceover, Auto lets the narration follow your uploaded files and never exceeds three quarters of your plan's voiceover cap. Its credit cost is estimated up front and settles to the narration actually produced.
Orientation
- Portrait (9:16): Shorts start here. Best for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
- Landscape (16:9): Magic Videos start here. Best for YouTube and desktop viewing.
- Square (1:1): never chosen for you. Pick it yourself.
Change it before you generate, because orientation cannot be changed afterward. To try another, create a new short or video. On desktop, use the aspect ratio button beside the duration control. On mobile, tap the settings icon and choose Orientation. Voiceovers are always landscape. Podcast episode video sets its orientation separately, in video templates.
Narration language
The searchable language picker beside the character picker sets the language the narration is written and performed in. It applies to shorts, Magic Videos and voiceovers.
The picker starts from the Dominant language of your selected voices (for several hosts, the language more than half of them share). If none applies, it falls back to your browser language, then your region, then English. Changing the character updates this automatic choice until you pick a language yourself. If your prompt explicitly asks for a different language than the one selected, the prompt wins and the narration is written in the language it names.
Watermark or logo
On shorts and Magic Videos, click the settings icon and choose Add Watermark/Logo (it reads Edit Logo once one is set). Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP image up to 5 MB, pick a corner (Top left, Top right, Bottom left or Bottom right), then click Save watermark. The logo appears on the preview and the final video.
Custom watermarks and logos are available on Creator, Business, and Enterprise. They are not included on Starter or Educator, where adding one prompts an upgrade. To change the watermark, captions or music on a finished video, see the video editor.
Brand control
If your organization has at least one brand kit, a brand picker appears in the composer, preset to your organization's default kit (or the first kit if none is marked default). Open it to choose another kit or No Brand Kit for this video. Not every visual style uses the full kit palette. The choice is not remembered between creations.
Starting values
There is no defaults screen. On the Shorts and Videos pages, a new short or video is pre-filled from what you last generated in that mode, in this browser: hosts, style, duration, orientation, background music and watermark. A language you picked yourself is remembered too. Otherwise language starts from the voice as described above.
- Shorts and Magic Videos are remembered separately.
- A remembered host or style that has since been removed falls back to that mode's default, as does a remembered duration the mode does not offer.
- On those pages, an unfinished creation's prompt, sources and selections reload in this browser after a refresh, until you generate it or start a new one. The Home composer keeps only the prompt text of an unfinished creation.
- Starting values and unfinished creations stay in your browser. They are not shared with teammates or synced across devices.
