Create a short: steps, music and cost

A short is a narrated, AI-illustrated video saved to the Videos library in the Studio, alongside Magic Video and Voiceovers. It starts in portrait and comes with an optional instrumental score, on by default. To compare shorts with Magic Video and Voiceovers, see choosing a video product.

Create a short

1. Open Home and switch the composer to Short mode, or open Videos in the sidebar and choose Create Video > Short.
2. Type a prompt, attach a source (file, link or pasted text), or click Upload Script to supply finished narration. With a source and an empty prompt, Jellypod builds the short from the source.
3. Pick a character to narrate. A short can use up to four characters, which you match to speakers when you upload a script.
4. Pick a style from the style rail. See video visual styles.
5. Set length, orientation, language, watermark and brand control as needed. These are covered in creation settings, including length presets and the default.
6. Click Generate. Jellypod takes you to Videos to watch progress.

Upload Script keeps every spoken word in order and skips research and script writing. Duration switches to Auto because it comes from the script. Format and speaker matching are in use your own script.

Style and orientation cannot be changed once generation starts. To try another, create a new short.

Background music

Every short gets an original instrumental score, ducked under the narration. To skip it, open the settings icon in the composer and turn off Background music before you click Generate. After generation, replace or remove the score in the editor.

What Jellypod generates

• Narration in your character's voice.
• Visuals in your chosen style, generated shot by shot to match the narration. Jellypod picks the palette and composition; you never write image prompts.
• Transitions between some shots, only where they help the story.
• Word-synced captions, following the selected visual style's default.
• The instrumental score, unless you turned it off.

Generation runs in the background and can take a few minutes. Jellypod opens the short's editable workspace once its narration and visuals are ready.

What it costs

Narration is 30 credits per minute, plus 7 credits per generated image and 20 per animated clip. A 30-second short with 7 shots costs 15 credits of narration plus 49 to 140 for visuals, so 64 to 155 credits depending on how many shots are animated. The quote is rounded up to the next 5 credits, held when you click Generate, and settled to what was actually generated. See how credits are consumed for rates and holds.
