Languages and accents: how episode language works

Jellypod supports 121 languages. The language of an episode and the language a voice is tuned for are two separate settings, and this page explains how they interact. For everything else about voices and hosts, see Characters and Voices.

Episode language comes from the podcast

Language is a property of the podcast. Episode scripts are always written in the podcast's Language setting, never in a host's Dominant language. To change it, see editing podcast details.

Voices are tuned to a language and accent

Each Voice Library voice is tuned to one language and accent. Its Language and Accent labels show what it was made for, so pick a voice made for the language your listeners speak: a Mexican Spanish voice for a Spanish episode aimed at Mexico, a British English voice for an English episode with a British host. A voice clone is not limited to one language. Clones use a multilingual voice model, so you can use one in episodes in other languages.

Dominant Language and Host Warnings

A voice's Dominant language is the language it is tuned to sound most native in. It is the same value shown as the voice's Language in the Voice Library. Where it comes from depends on the voice:

• Library and cloned voices: from the voice itself.
• Voice Design: detected from your character's backstory.
• Imported ElevenLabs voices: you choose it yourself during import.

If a selected host's Dominant language differs from the podcast's language, Jellypod shows an advisory note next to the host picker saying that host may sound unnatural in the podcast's language. If no host has a matching voice, the note says so and links to Create a matching Host. The note never blocks generation, and the episode is still written and voiced in the podcast's language.

The note also appears when a host has no Dominant language set. Pick a host whose Dominant language matches the podcast, or change the podcast's language to match your hosts.
